Linen Tea Towel Mustard by Linen Tales

The Linen Tea Towel Mustard by Linen Tales is a mustard yellow kitchen towel made of 100 percent European linen, woven in Lithuania and stone-washed. Its yellow has an earthy undertone, giving it a warm rather than garish glow, even next to bold tableware.

Linen Tea Towel Mustard is a kitchen towel from Linen Tales in Vilnius that dries glasses, lines bread baskets, and polishes freshly filled jam jars. A loop at the corner allows it to be hung back on a hook, where the linen dries out until the next use.

Mustard yellow, earthy rather than garish

Mustard carries the muted yellow of well-aged mustard, with just enough brown that it never looks shrill in a kitchen. Next to dark wood, terracotta, and copper, this shade unfolds its warmth most clearly, and in a grey kitchen, it is the focal point that catches the eye. It forms a natural counterpart to the deep petrol and forest green in the collection, and those who keep both versions on their hooks can switch them out depending on the season. Autumn colors keep the kitchen feeling cozy all year round.

A companion for canning day

Those who fill jars in the summer need a towel that can handle both heat and moisture. Placed over the lid, it helps grip the boiling-hot jar, wipes spilled syrup from the rim, and polishes the shoulders until they shine before the label is applied. Linen absorbs sugar syrup as readily as water and releases it in the wash without retaining sticky spots. Between two batches, a rinse under warm water is all it takes to keep the towel working. A muted tone like this one shows nothing of it anyway.

A fiber that absorbs grease as well as water

Over the years, a single linen towel replaces whole stacks of paper towels because it absorbs oil and fat just as readily and simply goes into the machine afterward. As the strongest of the natural fibers, linen withstands this wear for years, becoming suppler rather than thinner. If a towel is truly at the end of its life after many years, the fiber decomposes without a trace. Until then, many rolls of paper remain on the shelf that no one needed to buy.

The thread comes from a blue-flowering plant

Flax grows in European fields with the rain, requires hardly any pesticides, and its bloom is blue. EUROPEAN FLAX certification confirms that the fibers come from Western European cultivation and that their journey has been fully documented. The second seal on the Linen Tales fabric is Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, which examines every individual thread before it is woven into the bolt. Linseed oil is pressed from the seeds of the same plant, and the fabric is made from the stalks.

Wash at 40 degrees, without bleach

Place the Linen Tea Towel in the gentle cycle at a maximum of 40 degrees and choose a mild detergent without bleach so that the mustard yellow retains its depth. Keep the spin cycle below 600 RPM and hang the towel to dry afterward. Fabric softener is unnecessary, as this linen becomes softer on its own with every wash.

Linen Tea Towel Mustard – Material and dimensions
