Cuvée of Wine Pears – Pear Sparkling Wine from Manufaktur Jörg Geiger

The Cuvée of Wine Pears from Manufaktur Jörg Geiger is a sweet pear sparkling wine with 2% vol. alcohol. Wonderfully sparkling and fabulously fruity, served chilled it is a good alternative to sparkling wine as an aperitif or wine as a food accompaniment. We love the Cuvée of Wine Pears as an accompaniment to vegetable quiche and onion tart, a palatable alternative to Federweisser.

Cuvée of Wine Pears – Pear Sparkling Wine

The fruits for this Cuvée of Wine Pears come from the varieties Oberösterreicher Weinbirne, Schweizer Wasserbirne, and Nägelesbirne. Grown in traditional orchards on the Swabian Alb, from pear trees over 100 years old, hand-picked and gently pressed at Manufaktur Jörg Geiger. The cold used in the aroma-preserving partial fermentation of the pear sparkling wine results in only a moderate alcohol content.

The Cuvée of Wine Pears shines an intense straw yellow with a full aroma of ripe pears and spicy notes reminiscent of grass and hay. On the palate, the Poiré Artisan is very spicy-sweet and opulent, with a fine perlage, rounded off by the mildness of the Schweizer Wasserbirne with nutty undertones and a lemon-fresh, harmonious kick of freshness from the stimulating carbonation. Very harmonious juicy sweet taste of ripe pear with a slight spice and a sweet finish. In the international Sisga competition, the Cuvée of Wine Pears took 2nd place in the pear cider category.

The Cuvée of Wine Pears pairs very harmoniously with strong blue cheese or soft cheese with pear jelly, lemon cream, or even as a tart combined with fresh berries.

The old apple and cider pear varieties come from the traditional orchards that shape the landscape along the bird sanctuary at the foot of the Swabian Alb – hand-picked, ripened, and gently processed at Manufaktur Jörg Geiger, who has received several awards (including from Slow Food) for his pear sparkling wines, fruit brandies, and Prisecco. These fruit juices, with their pronounced aromatics, unique acidity of old apple varieties, and emphasized tannin note of the pear, form a very special, natural basis for Manufaktur Jörg Geiger products.
