Limalfi brings the Amalfi lemon to your glass, completely alcohol-free

Limalfi is the non-alcoholic Aperitivo Italiano from the Manufaktur Jörg Geiger, crafted from dealcoholized Chardonnay and the juice of the Amalfi lemon. It is not a sweet soda substitute, nor a bitter red spritz from a bottle—but an aperitif with acidity, structure, and a backbone of tea.

Limalfi is a non-alcoholic aperitif from Schlat at the foot of the Swabian Jura, where the lemon of the Amalfi Coast takes center stage. The name reveals the recipe, as it is a combination of "Limone" and "Amalfi"—that's really all you need to know. 5% juice from limoni Costa d'Amalfi I.G.P. is enough to give the glass that bright, Mediterranean freshness usually only found far south of the Alps.

Lemon zest, mirabelle plum, and a hint of kiwi

On the nose, Limalfi shows fresh lemon zest, ripe mirabelle plum, and white peach, accompanied by floral notes of peony and a slightly grassy tea note.

On the palate, citrus and apple engage in a lively play of acidity, carried by a subtly restrained sweetness. Tea extracts from Silver Needle and peony provide an elegant tartness, structure, and a long finish. This is complemented by a gentle perlage that keeps the glass in motion.

Fragrant, zesty, elegant—and with a depth rarely found in a non-alcoholic aperitivo. It is based on over 50 botanicals, including lemon verbena and lemon thyme. That is how an aperitivo should be.

Best served chilled with antipasti and fish

Limalfi loves light Mediterranean cuisine—antipasti, fish, delicate salads—and is at its best when served at 6 to 8 °C.

Paired with marinated antipasti and a tin of fine sardines, this aperitivo shows its strength, as the lemon in the glass perfectly balances the oil on the plate. A white wine glass is preferred over a narrow flute, as it gives the floral and tea notes the room they need to develop.

A slice of lemon in the glass, a small bowl of olives on the side—that’s all the evening needs. And because it is truly non-alcoholic at 0.0% vol, the second glass remains a light companion for everyone at the table.

Jörg Geiger brings Amalfi to the Swabian Jura

For decades, Jörg Geiger has been crafting non-alcoholic specialties from heritage orchard fruits in Schlat near Göppingen. For Limalfi, he has combined the flavors of his homeland with the lemon of the Amalfi Coast.

The base consists of 39% dealcoholized Chardonnay and apple wine from heritage varieties, which provide acidity and aromatic depth. This is complemented by mirabelle juice, tea extracts, as well as acacia blossoms and olive leaves at 0.1% each—and the lemons from Il Convento on the Costa d'Amalfi.

The more precisely the lemon juice is dosed, the clearer the profile in the glass, as it is intended to smell of lemon rather than taste like lemonade. It is the fruit, not the alcohol, that defines the drink—as Jörg has been demonstrating for decades. It is precisely this restraint that distinguishes Limalfi from most other non-alcoholic aperitifs on the shelf.

An aperitivo from Schlat—who would have thought?

We have known Jörg personally for many years, and his manufactory is located in Schlat—where I lived for a few years myself. I never would have thought back then that an Aperitivo Italiano would one day come from the Swabian Jura.

Top-tier restaurants have long been serving his specialties as food pairings when a menu needs to be alcohol-free without lacking anything. He excels at exactly that. Hats off.

If you would like to continue exploring his range, you can find Prisecco, cider, and champagne-style Bratbirne pear wine by Jörg Geiger in our shop. Limalfi comes in a 0.75 l bottle and contains sulfites.
