French Blue Linen Tea Towel by Linen Tales

The French Blue linen tea towel by Linen Tales is a light porcelain-blue kitchen towel made from European linen, woven in Lithuania, and stone-washed. Its blue hue is reminiscent of the hand-painted stoneware found on shelves in rustic South of France farmhouses.

The French Blue linen tea towel is a kitchen towel from Linen Tales in Vilnius that polishes glassware, dries lettuce, and lines the bread basket. At 45 by 65 centimeters, it covers the entire sink, and the corner loop allows it to be hung up afterward.

The blue of old farmhouse kitchens

French Blue is a light porcelain blue broken with a hint of gray, familiar from hand-painted tableware from Provence. On a sanded wooden kitchen table, this shade looks as though it has been there for decades. It is brighter and friendlier than navy, yet more assertive than the misty Blue Fog. Among the blues in the series, it is the most sociable, and on a white-set table, it acts like a greeting from the south.

Streak-free polished glasses, with no rework

Smooth, long fibers mean that nothing sheds from the fabric during wiping to remain on the surface. A wine glass therefore comes out of the towel clear, without lint in the bowl and without the dull film left behind by a cotton towel. Anyone who washes stemware by hand saves themselves the second pass. The difference is even more apparent with champagne flutes, where every trace is immediately visible.

Linen gets better with the years

As the strongest natural fiber, linen survives years that would have long since left cotton thin and tired. Each wash makes the fabric more supple, until eventually it drapes like a long-worn shirt. The double-folded hem from Linen Tales ensures that even after a hundred washes, no edges fray. Once you own such a towel, you quickly realize that it is not a disposable item.

From the blue-flowering field into the fabric

The plant behind the fabric blooms blue, grows in European fields with the rain, and requires hardly any pesticides. EUROPEAN FLAX verifies the Western European origin of these fibers, while Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX confirms that the yarn contains no harmful residues. Linseed oil is pressed from the seeds of the same plant, and the fabric is made from the stalks. In the end, almost nothing goes to waste.

Wash at 40 degrees, air dry

Wash the linen tea towel on a gentle cycle at 40 degrees, spin at a maximum of 600 rpm, and then let it air dry. Use a mild detergent without bleach so that the light blue does not fade over the years. Fabric softener should not be used, as it coats the fiber and weakens the very property for which you chose this towel. The wrinkled drape after drying is part of this fabric and should be allowed to remain.
