Tea towel with a witty life motto
The "The washing up can wait. Life cannot." tea towel by 17;30 is a kitchen towel made from pure cotton, designed in Hamburg and hand-printed. A bright motto for anyone who doesn't want to lose sight of what's essential.
Tea towel with a motto means a kitchen towel with attitude at 17;30. "The washing up can wait. Life cannot." is written in clear letters on a light background, bringing a little piece of life wisdom to the sink that is hard to argue with. 50 x 70 cm of pure cotton that dries reliably while reminding you of what really matters.
A phrase that sticks by the sink
The lettering is clear and calm on a light background, easy to read from across the kitchen. You read it once and find yourself nodding in agreement.
Applied by hand using screen printing, letter by letter, the saying feels like an offhand remark that nevertheless stays with you. Simple, matter-of-fact, and powerful—that's how the Hamburg team likes it. Since each towel is printed individually, it has its own subtle characteristics, with some lines perhaps slightly bolder, giving it unique charm.
The saying strikes a nerve because it speaks what many are thinking: the dishes won't run away, but a beautiful evening might. This little permission to pause hangs prominently in your kitchen, grinning at you whenever the pile starts to grow again.
Drying up and enjoying life
The cotton towel absorbs moisture from glasses, plates, and hands without leaving lint. A reliable kitchen towel for every day.
It handles 60-degree machine washes without complaint, lies smooth over the rail when ironed, and the print remains bold. Pure cotton becomes more absorbent with every wash, so the towel only gets better over time. Its place is over the back of a kitchen chair, where the saying brings a smile to every guest.
Hang it where it's clearly visible, and it will remind you every morning to leave the washing up for later every once in a while.
Cotton can be washed at high temperatures, changed often, and kept for a long time, making it the most reliable fabric in the kitchen. The more the towel is used, the better it dries. You can find more tea towels in our kitchen corner if you're looking to stock up.
A Hamburg idea from 2010
17;30 is run by a team from Hamburg, founded by Anna Upleger in 2010 on the Elbe and managed today by Quinn Upleger.
17;30 refers to the time when the workday ends, and the motto follows that very attitude. What started with lanyards evolved in 2016 into cards, paper bags, and tea towels with character. That is exactly what Quinn Upleger believes: a tea towel should be allowed to say something instead of just drying silently. 100 percent cotton, woven in India, and finished with screen printing in Hamburg.
A gift with a wink
Each towel comes individually with a paper band, ready to be gifted without any wrapping paper.
For a small price, it's a souvenir that is well received by anyone who doesn't take life too seriously. If you like, browse the entire range of towels from 17;30 or add the Bring on the beautiful life as a cheerful counterpart.
A tea towel rarely disappears unused into a drawer; it hangs on the rack, lies in the bread basket, or is tossed over a shoulder, and people like to hang a beautiful one where it can be seen. This keeps the witty saying in view every day, ensuring a smile before the first coffee has even finished brewing.
