Questions about Linen Napkins – Ashes of Roses – Set of 2?

Linen Napkins Ashes of Roses – Antique Pink by Linen Tales

The Ashes of Roses linen napkins by Linen Tales are a pair of antique pink cloth napkins made from European linen, woven in Lithuania and pre-washed with stones. The flax is grown in Western Europe, and the EUROPEAN FLAX seal traces its journey back to the field.

Linen napkins are fabric napkins from Linen Tales in Vilnius that arrive bundled as a set of 2 with kitchen twine, ready to be gifted without any further packaging. At 40 by 40 centimeters, they cover the lap and lie folded beside the plate without hanging over the edge.

An antique pink with a touch of grey to warm up the table

Ashes of Roses contains enough grey within the pink to make the shade look dusty, like a dried petal. It turns warm next to white porcelain and almost earthy beside light oak. Against thin-walled glasses, it adds a hint of color to the table that is subtle and unobtrusive. If you are setting the table in spring and prefer to leave the vase empty, this pair brings the blossom directly onto the linen. Muted shades of pink endure much longer on a dining table than any seasonal fashion color.

Envelope-style corners that remain flat

The hem on all four corners is mitered and folded over, just like the closure of an envelope. This keeps the corner as thin as the area beside it, allowing the square to lie flat on the plate instead of standing up when placed. This technique is called a mitered hem, or envelope corner, and it keeps the napkin in shape for years. Each piece is cut and sewn in Vilnius, where Linen Tales maintains its sewing workshop.

For an Easter brunch, the fabric ties the table together

At an Easter brunch, everything is on the table at once: scrambled eggs, roast lamb, braided yeast bread, radishes, and a basket of colored eggs. A pair of napkins in muted pink brings this cheerful clutter together, giving the table a sense of cohesion that would otherwise require flowers and candles. The linen is heavy enough to stay on the lap when someone pushes back their chair to reach for seconds. After the celebration, the pair goes into the machine and is ready for the next holiday.

Why this napkin leaves glasses spotless

The linen fiber grows long and smooth, which is why it leaves nothing behind on the glass when you dab your lips—a difference that is immediately noticeable on a polished wine goblet. At the same time, the fabric absorbs moisture and releases it quickly, so a used napkin is dry again by dessert. Linen Tales has every thread tested according to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, a process that detects harmful residues in the finished fabric. Whatever touches your lips daily should come with this certification.

Machine wash at 40 degrees, then air dry

Place the napkins in a delicate wash cycle at no more than 40 degrees and reduce the spin speed to 600 rpm to keep the fabric in shape. It is best to avoid fabric softener, as this linen becomes softer on its own with every wash. Hang the pair up damp and smooth them out with your flat hand; this almost always eliminates the need for ironing despite the wrinkled texture. Bleach should be reserved for white laundry, as dyed linen does not tolerate it well.
