Wool, virgin wool, or lambswool – what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made from 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's or lamb's very first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is usually obtained from living sheep in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and fluffed before being beautifully dyed and spun into yarn. The Klippan Harald blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to make the blanket feel soft; for this, the lambswool is pre-combed again, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket sheds a bit, especially at the beginning.
