Wool, virgin wool or lambswool - what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made from 100% lambswool. Lambswool is the wool from the (very) first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before it is wonderfully dyed petrol-colored and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to make the blanket feel soft; the lambswool is pre-combed again for this purpose, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a little.

The petrol blue Velvet throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cuddly blanket yourself when needed. To ensure your wool blanket lasts a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Remember that the natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect and you will wash it out little by little with each wash. It is best to hang the lambswool blanket outside on the line to air out.
