Wool, new wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket consists of 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's (very) first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is usually obtained from living sheep in one piece in the spring. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed a wonderful petrol color and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be barely itchy, breathable, and has excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything possible to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed, although this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket may pill slightly at the beginning.

The petrol-blue Velvet throw can be washed wonderfully at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself if needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener.
