Wool, virgin wool, or lamb's wool - what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made from 100% lamb's wool. Lamb's wool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of its life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is usually obtained in spring from live sheep, preferably in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and fluffed before being wonderfully delicately dyed pink and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lamb's wool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to make the blanket feel soft; for this purpose, the lamb's wool is extra pre-combed, but this quality is of course scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a bit.

The rose Velvet throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cuddly blanket yourself if necessary. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Remember that the natural wool grease has a self-cleaning effect and that you wash it out gradually with each wash. It is best to hang the lamb's wool blanket outside on the line to air it out.
