Wool, virgin wool or lambswool - what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made from 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of its life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, ideally in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and fluffed before being beautifully dyed charcoal grey and spun into yarn. The Klippan Stella blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure the blanket feels soft, which is why the lambswool is extra pre-combed, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a bit.

The Stella throw blanket can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it's best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener.
