Wool, new wool, or lambswool – what is the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's or lamb's first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like new wool, it is obtained from live sheep, usually in spring and ideally in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being beautifully dyed green and spun into yarn. This wool is then used to weave the Klippan Velvet blankets. Lambswool is said to be barely itchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything possible to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is specially pre-combed, although this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket may shed a little at the beginning.

The Velvet Avocado throw can be washed wonderfully at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself whenever needed. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Keep in mind that natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect and you will gradually wash it out with every cycle.
