Wool, virgin wool or lambswool - what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable resource. This blanket is made from 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from the (very) first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being wonderfully dyed blue and spun into yarn. The Klippan Knut blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure that the blanket feels soft, for which the lambswool is extra pre-combed, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a little.

The blue Knut blanket can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. To ensure your wool blanket lasts a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Remember that the natural wool grease has a self-cleaning effect, and you will gradually wash it out with each wash. It is best to hang the lambswool blanket outside on the line to air out.
