Wool, virgin wool or lambswool - what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made from 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of its life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is usually obtained from live sheep, mostly in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and fluffed before being wonderfully dyed blue and spun into yarn. The Klippan Harald blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to make the blanket feel soft; for this, the lambswool is pre-combed again, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a little.

The Harald throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cuddle blanket yourself when needed. To ensure your wool blanket lasts a long time, it's best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Remember that the natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect, and you wash it out little by little with each wash. It is best to hang the lambswool blanket outside on the line to air out.
