Wool, virgin wool, or lamb's wool - what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lamb's wool. Lamb's wool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being beautifully dyed rose-brown and spun into yarn. The Klippan Knut blankets are then woven from this wool. Lamb's wool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure that the blanket feels soft, which is why the lamb's wool is extra pre-combed, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and the blanket sheds a little, especially at the beginning.

The Knut throw can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself if necessary. To ensure you enjoy your wool blanket for a long time, it is best to use a mild wool detergent and avoid fabric softener. Remember that natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect, and you wash it out little by little with each wash. It is best to hang the lamb's wool blanket outside on the line to air out.
