Extra Brut Reserve, a multi-award-winning grower sparkling wine
The Extra Brut Reserve from Fred Loimer is an organic grower sparkling wine from the Kamptal region, produced using the traditional method of bottle fermentation and hand-riddled. Fine-bubbled, bone-dry, and invigorating—a multi-award-winning sparkling wine that serves as the perfect introduction to Loimer's world of Sekt.
Extra Brut Reserve is the fine-bubbled organic sparkling wine from the Fred Loimer winery in Langenlois, a cuvée made from six grape varieties. Aged according to the méthode traditionnelle with a dosage of just 2 g/l, it is a lively, bone-dry grower sparkling wine with an impressive track record of awards.
Yeast dough, apple strudel, lemon cake
On the nose, it offers inviting, fine-bubbled effervescence, accompanied by yeast dough, dried pears, and dried dates, followed by a mouth-filling mousse, apple strudel, and lemon cake.
On the palate, it is bone-dry with crisp acidity, decidedly invigorating and vital, with a long, lemony finish. It develops magnificently in the glass. A high-quality sparkling wine that is pure pleasure.
The sparkling wine for every occasion
Its crisp acidity and fine mousse make the Extra Brut Reserve a versatile aperitif and food companion.
Wonderful as an aperitif, and equally suited to appetizers, pan-fried fish, sushi, or a cheese platter. Serve well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute. It is the ideal entry point among our sparkling wines.
Six varieties, hand-riddled
Sparkling wine was produced at the Loimer winery in the past, after which bottle fermentation was paused for seventeen years. Today, Fred Loimer once again crafts grower sparkling wine using the méthode traditionnelle, together with Master of Wine Andreas Wickhoff.
The cuvée consists of six varieties—Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. After a spontaneous first fermentation in steel tanks and wooden barrels and malolactic fermentation, the base wine aged on the lees for eight months. Following the second fermentation, the sparkling wine spent 18 months on the lees and was riddled by hand.
The awards speak for themselves: 95 points and gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards, winner of the 2018 Germany–Austria sparkling wine competition, as well as 93 points from Falstaff and Wine Enthusiast. Impressive indeed. You can find more from the producer under other wines from the Fred Loimer winery, such as the award-winning Brut Nature Große Reserve.
In a white wine glass, not a narrow flute
This sparkling wine is best served well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, in a white wine glass instead of a narrow flute. With a dosage of only 2 grams, it is bone-dry, yet invigorating and versatile. The ideal sparkling wine for when you want a little sparkle without the need for a grand occasion. Cheers.
