Loimer Sekt – Langenlois Große Reserve Brut Nature – [ORGANIC]
The Loimer Sekt Langenlois Große Reserve Brut Nature is a "masterpiece" by Fred Loimer. It is a Blanc de Blanc with no dosage - Brut Nature. It is not without reason that this sparkling wine bears the name Große Reserve: fine perlage, intense yeast notes, brioche and apple peel on the bouquet, elegant mousse, taut minerality, shortbread, green nuts, lemon zest, dry with finely chiseled acidity, grapefruit with salt in the exceptionally long finish. Magnificent!
Fine Austrian grower sparkling wine has been produced in Langenlois for decades. A handful of established sparkling wine producers in the town have built and consolidated the quality of Kamptal sparkling wines over the years. Sparkling wine was also produced at Weingut Loimer until 1998. Now, after a 17-year dry spell, the method of classic bottle fermentation is being reintroduced at the winery, this time, however, with the active support of Andreas Wickhoff MW, who plays an important role in base wine production, blending, and marketing. The wines come from vineyards in Langenlois and Gumpoldskirchen and were produced according to the biodynamic guidelines of the Respekt winegrowers' association. Three sparkling wines have so far been produced by Weingut Fred Loimer using the "méthode traditionnelle" - the classic second fermentation in the bottle - and serve to solidify Langenlois' reputation as a sparkling wine stronghold.
