Langenlois Große Reserve 2020, Blanc de Blancs
Fred Loimer's 2020 Langenlois Große Reserve is an organic grower's sparkling wine from the Kamptal region, a Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature. Aged in large oak casks and kept on the lees for over 36 months, it is a masterpiece of traditional bottle fermentation, freshly disgorged.
Langenlois Große Reserve 2020 is the new vintage of the award-winning organic sparkling wine from the Fred Loimer winery, a Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature made from 85% Chardonnay with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Disgorged in October 2025 with zero dosage – young, taut, and full of tension.
Brioche, apple peel, grapefruit with salt
The nose reveals a fine perlage accompanied by intense yeast notes, brioche, and apple peel, along with an elegant mousse, butter cookies, green nuts, and lemon zest.
On the palate, it is dry, with finely chiseled acidity and taut minerality. The finish is remarkably long, with notes of grapefruit and salt. With zero dosage, it is completely dry – and particularly tension-filled at this young stage. Magnificent.
The sparkling wine for a festive moment
Its freshness and fine perlage make the Große Reserve the perfect sparkling wine for special occasions – and for fine dining.
Wonderful as an aperitif, as well as with oysters, pan-fried fish, or aged hard cheese. Serve well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute. A highlight among our sparkling wines.
Aged in large oak, 36 months on the lees
Sparkling wine was produced at the Loimer winery in the past, but then bottle fermentation was put on hold for seventeen years. Today, Fred Loimer is once again producing grower's sparkling wine according to the méthode traditionelle, working with Master of Wine Andreas Wickhoff to solidify Langenlois' reputation as a center for sparkling wine.
The grapes – 85% Chardonnay, 11% Pinot Blanc, 4% Pinot Gris – were harvested by hand in mid-to-late September from the Steinberg and Hasel vineyards. The primary fermentation and aging took place in large oak casks: twelve months on the gross lees and eight more on the fine lees.
After the second fermentation, the wine aged on the lees for over 36 months before being disgorged in October 2025 with zero dosage – Brut Nature, zero grams of residual sugar. If you are looking for the matured predecessor, you can find our award-winning Langenlois Große Reserve 2016 and other wines from the Fred Loimer winery.
Freshly disgorged, it benefits from a little air
Served well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, this young sparkling wine shows its best in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute. Being freshly disgorged, it benefits from a little air in the glass. With the maturity from the lees behind it, it can also be cellared for a few more years. Cheers to Langenlois.
