Fred Loimer – Sekt Extra Brut Reserve [ORGANIC]
The Loimer Sekt Extra Brut Reserve is a magnificent organic sparkling wine from winemaker Fred Loimer in Langelois in Kamptal. It impresses with inviting effervescence with fine bubbles, reminiscent of yeast dough, "Kletzen" (dried pears) and dried dates, mouth-filling mousse, apple strudel and lemon cake, bone-dry with crisp acidity, exceptionally invigorating and vital, with a long citrusy finish, a high-quality sparkling wine, splendid development in the glass. Traditional bottle fermentation - hand-riddled.
Fine Austrian Sekt has been produced in Langenlois for decades. A handful of established Sekt producers in the town have built up and consolidated the quality of Kamptal sparkling wines over the years. Until 1998, Sekt was also produced at the Loimer winery. Now, after a 17-year hiatus, the method of classic bottle fermentation is being reintroduced at the winery, this time, however, with the active support of Andreas Wickhoff MW, who plays an important role in base wine production, blending, and marketing. The wines come from vineyards in Langenlois and Gumpoldskirchen and were produced according to the biodynamic guidelines of the Respekt winegrowers' association. Four finely sparkling wines are now produced by the Loimer winery according to the "méthode traditionnelle" - the classic second fermentation in the bottle - and serve to consolidate Langenlois' reputation as a Sekt stronghold.
