Pour yourself a glass of Loimer Grüner Veltliner Kamptal 2023
The Loimer Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC 2023 is a fresh, elegant organic white wine from Austria. On the nose, the Grüner Veltliner Kamptal from the Fred Loimer winery smells of dried, yellow apples, orange, and a hint of white pepper and cardamom. Upon deeper inhalation, marigolds and clover blossoms emerge, slowly followed by aromas of dried apple slices, pear pulp, and a touch of lemon confit from the glass. On the palate, it presents itself as beautifully balanced, dry with a charming extract sweetness, juicy, mineral-salty with vital pull and tension. A regional wine that admirably represents its region: the Kamptal.
Its slender body makes it an ideal accompaniment to appetizers or an appetite-stimulating aperitif. It pairs well with fried dishes, like Wiener Schnitzel, and leaves you wanting more!
Fred Loimer – Winemaking
The grapes for this Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC come from excellent vineyard sites around Langenlois, where the Fred Loimer winery is located. The up to 50-year-old vines grew mainly on loess, with a small portion on gneiss weathering soils. The Grüner Veltliner was harvested from mid-September to mid-October 2023 – of course, by hand, selectively in small 20kg crates. After mostly no maceration, 20% with a short maceration period of max. 2 hours, whole cluster pressing was carried out, followed by spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The young wine then remained on the fine lees for 4 months before being bottled for the first time in February 2024.
