Discover the Anning Pinot Noir – Organic Pinot Noir from Weingut Loimer
The Loimer Anning Pinot Noir 2015 from Weingut Loimer is an organic single vineyard wine from Gumpoldskirchen, Austria. On the nose, the Anning Pinot Noir by Fred Loimer offers aromas of dark berries and dried plums, with a hint of smokiness. On the palate, the red wine is dry, enormously spicy, berry-like, compact, and its finely defined body shows potential and structure; despite the hot vintage, it brings freshness and finesse. Beautifully aged.
Fred Loimer – Winemaking
The grapes for the Anning Pinot Noir from Weingut Loimer come from the Braun and Stocknarrn vineyards in Gumpoldskirchen, where they benefit from the Pannonian climate with hot summers and dry autumns. The Anninger, a mountain at the foot of which the vineyards for this Pinot Noir are located, is one of the eastern foothills of the Alps, standing at 700m. The vines grow on clayey, calcareous sedimentary soils mixed with limestone gravel. The Pinot Noir was harvested at the end of September 2015 – of course by hand, selectively in small 20kg crates. 80% was crushed with stems, 20% whole berries were pressed gently. Fermented spontaneously in used 2,200l wooden fermentation vats. Afterwards, it was aged for 12 months in 300l oak barrels (15% new oak) and then 6 months in large oak barrels before being bottled in March 2017.
