Riesling Kamptal 2025, fresh and razor-sharp
The 2025 Riesling Kamptal from Fred Loimer is a dry organic white wine from the Kamptal region, just freshly bottled. Bone-dry, zesty, full of peach and citrus – a young Riesling with tension and crystal-clear fruit.
Riesling Kamptal 2025 is the young, dry Riesling from the Fred Loimer winery in Langenlois, bottled in April 2026. Grown on primary gneiss rock, with only 11.5% ABV and just 1.8 g/l residual sugar – a lively Kamptal wine that brings the freshness of the vintage into the glass.
Peach, currant, candied lemon
The nose is filled with juicy peach, currant, and candied lemon, with a hint of wildflower honey – a fragrant, spring-like bouquet with fine stone fruit notes.
On the palate, it is dry and lively, with juicy richness, clear apricot, and citrus, carried by a tangy acidity. With 6.4 g/l of acidity and just 1.8 g/l of residual sugar, it is razor-sharp. Cool and precise.
With sushi, steamed fish, and seafood
Its crisp acidity makes this young Riesling Kamptal a fresh companion for light cuisine.
Beautiful with sushi, steamed fish, and seafood, as well as spring salad or fresh goat cheese – the citrus fruit stands up to them well. Served at 8 to 10 degrees, best enjoyed young and well-chilled. Those who prefer something rounder should opt for the more mature Riesling Kamptal 2022.
The 2025 vintage, fresh and moderate
2025 was a friendly vintage in the Kamptal. After a dry winter, there was well-distributed rain, flowering began on June 10th, and a warm summer lasted until the end of July before August cooled down.
The Riesling arrived in the cellar in mid-October in perfect health, with moderate sugar ripeness. Hence the fresh acidity and the low 11.5% ABV – exactly the lively, moderate style that Fred Loimer understands as Kamptal wine culture.
50-year-old vines on primary gneiss rock
The grapes grow on vines up to 50 years old around Langenlois, mainly on primary gneiss rock, with a small portion on gravel and loess. Riesling feels most at home on gneiss – it gives it minerality and drive.
Harvested in mid-October, by hand in 20-kilo crates. After four hours of skin contact, the grapes are whole-bunch pressed and undergo spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine matures on its lees until January, then on fine lees, before being bottled at the end of April 2026.
Fred Loimer cultivates his vineyards biodynamically; in the respekt-BIODYN association, they take a strict approach in the vineyard. You can find more from the producer among the other wines from the Fred Loimer winery and under the dry white wines.
Tension now, richness later
Well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, the young Riesling shows all its tension. At 11.5% ABV, it is a lightweight for the summer. Those who drink it young get its vibrancy; those who lay it down will find more richness in a few years. Both have their appeal.
