Riesling Kamptal DAC 2022 – Organic Wine by Fred Loimer
The Fred Loimer Riesling Kamptal DAC 2022 is a dry organic wine from Austria. On the nose, the Fred Loimer Riesling Kamptal offers aromas of juicy peaches, currants, candied lemon, and honey from a spring meadow full of blooming wildflowers. On the palate, the Riesling from Weingut Loimer is dry with a juicy melt, distinct stone fruit and citrus, and piquant acidity. A Riesling that represents its growing region, the Kamptal, with excellent drinkability, vibrant acidity, elegant fruit, and excellent varietal typicity.
Fred Loimer – Winemaking
The grapes for this Fred Loimer Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC come from good vineyard sites around Langenlois, where Weingut Loimer is located. The up to 50-year-old vines grow mainly on primary rock gneiss, with a small part on gravel and loess. The Riesling was harvested in mid-October 2022 – by hand, of course, selectively in small 20kg boxes. After 4 hours of skin contact, whole-bunch pressing followed, then spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The young wine then remained on the full lees until January and on the fine lees until bottling at the end of February 2023.
