The Manufaktur Jörg Geiger 33° Grad Pinot Meunier Dornfelder Mostbirne is a dry alternative to rosé wine without alcohol, refined with apple, pear and grape juice, herbal and floral extracts, and is a dry, alcohol-free food pairing.

Through the combination of dealcoholized Pinot Meunier and Dornfelder with pear and grape and apple juice, as well as cherry, currant, blackberry, and blueberry juice, a red-fruited bouquet dominates. With this base, further refined with herbs and spices, Jörg Geiger creates a drink that resembles a rosé wine or light red wine.

How 33° Pinot Meunier Tastes:

The 33 Grad Pinot Meunier Dornfelder Mostbirne smells of blue grapes, juicy red fruits and ripe berries. On the palate, it is dry with a delicately bitter, spicy impression with notes of hay and pepper. Thus, the alcohol-free 33 Grad Pinot Meunier Dornfelder Mostbirne is a good accompaniment to oriental salads, goes well with grilled summer vegetables, antipasti, pan-fried white meat or fish, and crispy chicken. Recommended serving temperature 12-14 degrees Celsius.

Alcohol-free food pairing – Jörg Geiger's "Grad-Wanderung"

GRAD°WANDERUNG, that's the name of the new alcohol-free line from Manufaktur Jörg Geiger, which offers four dry, dealcoholized wines refined with herbs, blossoms, and spices. The refinement with juices and herbal extracts creates a significantly more complex and diverse drink than a purely dealcoholized beverage, a wine without alcohol, could be.

After all, Manufaktur Jörg Geiger has 20 years of experience in the alcohol-free sector, and since 2021, its own dealcoholization plant, and works exclusively with natural raw materials and products. For example, the still food pairings are neither artificially sweetened nor de-acidified.

First, the red wine is gently dealcoholized. Gently means removing the alcohol with minimal temperature addition but maximum time. How low the temperature can be depends on the alcohol content of the wine used. The Riesling is dealcoholized at 32°C, the Rosé at 33°C, the Sauvignon Blanc at 35°C, and the Grenache at 36°C. The temperature thus served as the inspiration for the naming of this new alcohol-free line.

Why is GRAD°WANDERUNG not a "real" alcohol-free wine?

Despite all efforts, Jörg Geiger believes that pure dealcoholized wine does not live up to a high-quality presentation and the associated expectations. Although natural wine aromas are recovered through aroma recovery, the part bound to alcohol is involuntarily lost, leading to a sensory change. Alcohol-free wine was thus always associated with abstinence, not only from alcohol, and was not an equivalent counterpart to wine with alcohol. Therefore, inventor and affineur Jörg Geiger considers dealcoholized wine merely a welcome basis to create new alcohol-free options with less sweetness and a new variety of fermentation aromas. With over 20 years of experience in "rethinking alcohol-free," based on the use of around 200 dry spices, 70 freshly harvested herbs, 20 blossoms, and self-produced hydrolates, he succeeds in creating unique still, dry food pairings without alcohol. Since Jörg Geiger not only removes alcohol but also adds juice, herbs, blossoms, and spices, the sugar-reduced, alcohol-free food pairing may not legally be called an alcohol-free wine, but rather a dealcoholized, flavored, wine-containing beverage. The alcohol content is usually 0.3% and always remains below the legal definition of "alcohol-free" of <0.5 vol%. Therefore, Manufaktur Geiger uses the international designation "Alcohol removed."
