The Manufaktur Jörg Geiger 36° Grad Grenache Plum Herb is a dry, non-alcoholic food companion made from dealcoholized red wine and plum juice, refined with herbs, blossoms, and spices.

Through the combination of dealcoholized Grenache with plum and grape juice, as well as currant and blackberry juice, a red-fruited bouquet dominates. With this base, which is further refined with herbs, blossoms, and spices, Jörg Geiger recreates a beverage that is reminiscent of a fruity red wine.

The 36 Grad Grenache Plum Herb has a characterful aroma of red grapes, juicy red fruits, and ripe berries. On the palate, it is dry, opulent, and berry-forward with a herbal, ethereal impression featuring notes of rosemary and thyme. Thus, the non-alcoholic 36 Grad Grenache Plum Herb is a great companion for spicy dishes, Southern French cuisine, braised Mediterranean vegetables, seared dark meat and grilled Mediterranean fish, aged cheese, and a dry alternative to alcohol-free red wine. Recommended serving temperature 14-16 degrees.

Non-alcoholic food companion – Jörg Geiger's "Grad-Wanderung"

GRAD°WANDERUNG is the name of the new non-alcoholic line from Manufaktur Jörg Geiger, offering four dry beverages made from dealcoholized wine refined with herbs, blossoms, and spices. Through the refinement with juices and herbal extracts, a significantly more complex and diverse beverage is created than a purely dealcoholized beverage, a wine without alcohol, could ever be.

After all, Manufaktur Jörg Geiger possesses 20 years of experience in the non-alcoholic sector, including its own dealcoholization plant since 2021, and works exclusively with natural raw materials and products. For example, the still food companions are neither artificially sweetened nor deacidified.

First, the red wine is gently dealcoholized. Gentle means removing the alcohol with minimal heat application but maximal time. How low the temperature can be depends on the alcohol content of the wine used. The Riesling is dealcoholized at 32°C, the Rosé at 33°C, the Sauvignon Blanc at 35°C, the Grenache at 36°C, and the Pinot Noir at 37°C. The temperature was therefore the inspiration for the naming of this new non-alcoholic line.

Why is the GRAD°WANDERUNG not a "real" non-alcoholic wine?

Despite all efforts, Jörg Geiger finds that pure dealcoholized wine does not live up to high-quality standards and the associated expectations. Although natural wine aromas are captured again through aroma recovery, the portion bound to the alcohol is inevitably lost, leading to a sensory change. For him, non-alcoholic wine remained a sacrifice, not just of alcohol. Therefore, inventor and affineur Jörg Geiger sees dealcoholized wine merely as a welcome base to create new non-alcoholic beverages with less sweetness and a new variety of fermentation aromas. With the wealth of experience from over 20 years of "rethinking non-alcoholic," based on the use of around 200 dry spices, 70 freshly harvested herbs, 20 blossoms, and self-produced hydrolats, he succeeds in creating non-alcoholic, still, and dry food companions. The alcohol comes out, while juice, herbs, blossoms, and spices go in. The alcohol content is generally 0.3% and always remains below the legal definition of "non-alcoholic" of <0.5% vol.
