Tiroler Reine Liquid Soap with real mountain mint oil from Innsbruck
Tiroler Reine Mountain Mint Liquid Soap is a genuine, kettle-boiled soap from the Walde manufactory in Innsbruck – free from synthetic surfactants and dyes, and made with real essential mountain mint oil. Not a fragrance-pumped cocktail of surfactants, but soap-making craft dating back to 1777, fresh and clear like a morning in the Alps.
Tiroler Reine Mountain Mint Liquid Soap is a handcrafted liquid soap from the Walde soap manufactory in Innsbruck, boiled in the traditional kettle method from saponified olive oil, coconut oil, and Tyrolean beef tallow. Its sharp, cool, and spicy fresh scent comes from real essential mint oil (Mentha arvensis) – not from an aroma laboratory.
Strong and clear, fresh and wide awake
Mountain mint releases its scent as soon as its deep green, jagged leaves are touched – the essential menthol fills the room with freshness in an instant.
Fresh, spicy, invigorating – this is how the soap wakes up with you every day. You can use it for your hands or take it into the shower; it works for both. The lather remains creamy and fine, while the glycerin from the saponification process provides additional nourishment. Mint was sacred to the ancient Greeks: its scent is said to have originated from the great love between Hades and the nymph Minthe. Later, bride and groom would adorn themselves with mint, and dining tables rubbed with mint leaves would welcome guests with freshness.
Real kettle-boiled soap, without synthetics or dyes
Unlike conventional liquid soaps, Tiroler Reine is a true soap – made from saponified olive oil, coconut oil, and Tyrolean beef tallow, stirred in kettles, and free from synthetic surfactants.
This makes the difference in the lather: the beef tallow, a traditional local ingredient, has a replenishing effect; the beeswax ensures a fine consistency; and the glycerin is created naturally during the saponification process.
New this season: all 10 Tiroler Reine liquid soaps now come in a 300 ml bottle without any dyes. The familiar green of the Mountain Mint soap is now only found on the label; the soap itself is clear – just as it comes out of the kettle. Preservatives and emulsifiers are also excluded. Should the soap ever appear cloudy or settle, simply place it in a warm spot for a short time and shake well – 5 minutes in the sun is usually enough.
Therese Fiegl and the Walde family, Innsbruck since 1777
The idea for Tiroler Reine came to Therese Fiegl on her daily walk through the old town of Innsbruck, which took her past the Walde soap manufactory on Innstraße – "through a cloud of soap scent like in the days of my grandparents."
Therese, who has been building Tyrolean brands since 1997 and is also behind the Tiroler Edle chocolates, joined forces with Peter Walde. The Tiroler Reine series debuted in 2010 – 10 scents, each soap with its own story, from glacier milk and hay to stone pine and elderberry. It is still produced today at the Walde manufactory, founded in 1777 on the banks of the Inn river – Austria's oldest family business, currently managed in the 7th and now 8th generation by Peter and his son Lukas Walde.
"The spirit must not be lost," says Peter Walde, which is why much of the work is still done by hand: mixing, stirring, cold-pressing, extruding, pouring, bottling, and packing. You can find the entire soap and care line from the Walde manufactory bundled with us – and if you enjoy the cool freshness of mountain mint in your bathroom, it is also available as a solid soap bar with embedded mint leaves. Hand washing barely gets any fresher than this.
Lather up, rinse off, store in a cool place
In the morning, Tiroler Reine Mountain Mint liquid soap reveals its full freshness as the hint of menthol clears the sleep from your eyes – apply to damp hands, lather briefly, and rinse with cool water. For showering, 2 to 3 pumps are sufficient. You can screw the matching Tiroler Reine pump dispenser onto any 300 ml bottle. Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight so that the fresh mountain mint oil lasts as long as possible. Also a pro-tip for athletes after training.
