Discover the Orange Wine Traminer Alte Reben with Achtung from Loimer

The Loimer Traminer Alte Reben mit Achtung 2017 is an opulent orange wine from the Thermenregion in Austria. With its beguiling aromas of orange zest, rose water, and tropical fruits, like a pale ale with ginger, the Fred Loimer Traminer Alte Reben will captivate you. On the palate, this natural wine is bone-dry with a wonderful fruit sweetness; the complex nose is reflected on the palate and culminates in an endless finish of rose jelly and fresh oat cookies. An exciting natural wine with a rich texture, fine tannins, and mineral grip. A multifaceted wine that can certainly be decanted; a little air does it good. It pairs well with spicy cheeses with pear mustard or Asian dishes. Aging potential: 2021 - 2035.

Fred Loimer – Winemaking with Achtung

The grapes for the Traminer Alte Reben mit Achtung from Weingut Loimer come from biodynamically cultivated vineyards in Gumpoldskirchen at 300 meters above sea level, where they benefit from the Pannonian climate with hot summers and dry autumns. The vines, up to 86 years old, grow on clayey sedimentary soils interspersed with limestone gravel. The Traminer was hand-picked, selectively in small 20kg boxes. Spontaneously fermented for four weeks on the skins in acacia barrels. Subsequently, the Traminer Alte Reben was aged for 10 months on the full lees, then, after the first racking with light sulfuring, for another 12 months on the fine lees, before being bottled unfiltered and unfined on August 22, 2019. In our temperature-controlled warehouse since August 14, 2024.

The Traminer Alte Reben mit Achtung is an orange wine, which it clearly shows with its beautiful matte orange color with amber reflections, but which actually describes a winemaking process where the berries of white grapes, as in red wine production, ferment on the mash, allowing the berries to impart aroma and tannins to the must. This is probably the world's oldest form of winemaking, originally from Georgia.
